So what is the Gluten Free diet made popular by Miley Cyrus?

Miley lost a lot of weight fast through the gluten free diet and training 5-6 days per week.

So heres a little bit about gluten intolerance and the diet Miley followed after she was diagnosed with gluten intolerance.

Miley discovered she was intolerant to gluten and lactose and undertook a dramatic change to her diet and exercise routine.

She Said she was sick of being sick all the time and feeling so unhealthy.

At one stage she was looking great (like the pic above) but now I think she dropped a little more so may need to focus on building lean toned muscle – but that’s my opinion….(we all know Hollywood has a different opinion….and they are ones paying the big $$$’s )

 

but the truth is it worked really well for her.

 

SO what is gluten and the symptoms of gluten intolerance.

 Gluten is a very large protein found in grass grains.

Different forms of Gluten naturally occur in a number of grass grains including: Wheat, Rye, Barley, Triticale, Kamut, Spelt and Oats.

More and More people are finding out that they are gluten intolerant.

Gluten intolerance is common affecting up to 15% of people. A small fraction of these have Celiac Disease.

In sensitive people Gluten actually damages the intestine – leading to disease.

Some of symptoms of gluten intolerance in women may include, bloating, abdominal weight gain, headaches and diarrhoea.

- The symptoms are frequently misdiagnosed as other conditions.

 

When it comes to weightloss it is essential that the food you are eating is easily digestible and breaks down in your system fast.

Gluten has a protein known as gliadin which people with this condition cannot absorb in the small intestines leading to a variety of bowel movement complications.

If you are trying to lose weight and have a gluten intolerance and continue to eat gluten foods then you will be continuously setting your self up for failure every time.

 

But being gluten intolerant does not mean you cannot lose weight.

 

It simply means you need to exclude all foods that naturally contain gluten and especially need to exclude special processed, manipulated and packaged “gluten free” foods.

 

Eating Gluten Free requires excluding foods that naturally contain gluten and foods that have these gluten added to them in the processing process.

 

There is bit of a buzz with the marketing of processed foods aimed at confusing consumers by making special gluten free this and gluten free that on the supermarket shelves and having the consumer believe its healthy and safe to eat.

Even bakeries have caught on to it, offering gluten free muffins, cakes, breads, pizza bases and brownies.

 

Processed (boxed, packaged) “Gluten free” foods are typically highly processed, low in fibre and contain added salt.

These foods are treated by your digestion the same way as your digestion processes sugar and is readily converted into fat.

 

Packaged Gluten free foods does NOT mean fat free, Does NOT mean Sugar Free  and Does NOT mean Healthy.

Gluten free bread, boxed cereals, muffins and brownies will not get you a flat tummy, in the same way that regular bread, boxed cereals, muffins and brownies will also prevent you from getting a flat tummy.

 

To get a flat tummy and lose excess body fat I recommend eating foods that naturally don’t contain gluten, rather than specially made “Gluten Free Foods”.

 

This means eating fresh fruit and vegetables and lean protein.

 

In an interview with US magazine Miley cyrus explained that she had a gluten and lactose allergy.

She then added, “Everyone should try no gluten for a week! The change in your skin, physical and mental health is amazing. You won’t go back!”

 

Miley omitted all wheat and dairy from her diet and well as alcohol.

 

She followed the 6 meals a day clean eating approach and ate foods naturally free from gluten to keep her body functioning at its best.

 

All food came from naturally derived ingredients made up from vegetables, fruit, ancient grains (which are naturally gluten free)  and lean protein.

 

She eliminated Dairy from her diet and substituted this with soy and almond milk.

 

So the truth is that a gluten free diet in its true sense is really just a very clean way of eating.

 

No chemicals and no artificial ingredients, just easily digestible high alkaline foods that your body can use as fuel efficiently.
